A Silent Love

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a young blue-eyed girl. The girl was at the age of marriage, but for a specific reason, she rejected every suitor that came for her. That reason was her love for a silent church servant. The girl went to the church every day just to see that quiet servant boy. That boy had been saved seven years ago by a nun from a fire in his house, and he decided to serve the church for ten years only. But when he and the girl met for the first time, they felt the flame of love for each other, and now it has been two years that both of them have been burning in this flame. But they cannot talk much with each other, let alone get married.

So the girl, just so they could see each other, went to the church every day. In the church, both of them stayed silent and sat on seats far from each other, but those silences intensified the flame of their love more than thousands of words. It can be said that those silences were like wind for the f ire of their love, making its flames stronger.

But one day came when the girl’s family could no longer tolerate her rejecting suitors. After all, their reputation among the villagers was at stake. If the girl continued rejecting suitors, the villagers would start spreading rumors about the reason. So the girl’s family accepted a newly rich young man who had come as a suitor and said that their marriage would take place in one month. This decision was made in the absence of the girl while she was in the church. The moment the girl found out about her family’s decision, tears gathered in her blue eyes from sadness and sorrow, just like an ocean. The reason for those tears was that the servant was going to be free after one more year. But she was no longer able to oppose her family.

During that one month, the boy had understood the situation. His heart ached at the thought that his beloved would be with someone else. Thinking about the fact that he would no longer be able to see the girl’s face scared him. But what could he do? He had sworn to serve the church for ten full years, and if he ran away, he would be imprisoned.

One day, while both of them were sitting silently on a church bench, that silence was louder than any scream and could describe their sorrow and grief. The silent boy sat there, his hands trembling from the fear of losing his beloved. The blue-eyed girl’s tears flowed from her eyes like a clear waterfall, but no sound came out of her throat, as if those tears alone were screaming her sorrow.

That one month passed like a single day for both of them, and the wedding day arrived. The servant himself had decorated the church for the girl’s wedding. Oh, how painful it was to decorate a place for the marriage of your beloved with someone else. When the marriage between the girl and the newly rich young man was officiated, the boy had a heart attack. But even so, he went inside the church to see the girl one last time.

The moment his eyes met the blue eyes of the girl, he could no longer endure it. His vision blurred, his heart hurt so much that he twisted in pain, and finally, the heart that had been beating faster and faster for the blue-eyed girl stopped because of deep sorrow. The girl, too, had become like a moving corpse. Inside the church, outside the church, even in her wedding carriage, she only thought of the silent boy. She remembered his yellow eyes like the light of the sun, and his curly chocolate-colored hair that sometimes covered his face. On the wedding night, when the girl’s husband entered her room, he saw that she was sleeping. No, she was not sleeping. Her heart had also stopped from the sorrow and pain of separation from that boy. And that is how both of them left this world together, so that in another world, they could be together.

Some loves are not for being together, they are for dying together!
